Embodied Art – Part 13 – Her Legacy

Red Hill and White Shell, 1938

Thank you Georgia O' Keeffe
for letting me into
Your beautiful artwork
And feel your mystic shapes

A larger museum is now being built
In your honour
As Uranus is transiting
Your Neptune-Pluto conjunction

Your life is continuously being mapped out
By highly educated professors
The clothes you wore are exhibited
The food you ate is made into recipes

The houses you inhabited are adored
The painting styles you invented taught
Your drawing mode, the letters you wrote...
You are still a teacher

Your paintings are visiting art museums
On every continent now
Weaving your name, art and powerful legacy
Into collective memory

Your artworks are selling
For the highest price ever paid
A 'female artist'
The term you would never accept

Yet still there is a large gap
Between prices paid for artworks
By male vs female artists
Perhaps this doesn't bother you at all now

Thank you for reminding me of seeing
The flowers, their sacred geometry
Hearing the soft tones of the mountains
Amidst whom your ashes now rest

The Mother of Modern Woman
The Great Ancestor of artists
I can't help but seeing you as
A native, Native American

With love...

PS
It took me a while
To digest your life story
You made a deep impression on me

Thanks to Archangel Metatron
And lovely friends
For helping me (re)open my channel

  1. Dear Eva ~
I’m so excited of experiencing more of Georgia O’ Keeffe life and how lovely that her work are being shown in museums all over world. As you can see on my photography of flowers Eva, Georgia has inspired me to taking pictures of flowers…
