Welcome to my website and blog!

The archetypal eye invites us into a deeper perception of the Cosmos, of ourselves and others — of our cultural and political past and present, as well as collective movements and events in the outer world.

The content on this site is primarily inspired by archetypal astrology – an approach to astrology having evolved from the Esalen Institute in California, USA, through the second half of the 20th century. You can read about the birth of a new discipline and follow its ongoing development at Archai—The Journal of Archetypal Cosmology.

Archetypal astrology is now embedded in interdisciplinary studies, including new paradigm sciences, philosophy etc. at the California Institute of Integral Studies, CIIS — an accredited university, where you can earn academic degrees in a program that includes the discipline. This development has built a solid bridge between the best of classical knowledge and the new dimensions of consciousness that are enriching our cosmological world view today.

Recommended reading for further understanding the background for the new discipline are the following books, essays and articles, which are all wonderful to read:

The Passion of the Western Mind (1992), by Richard Tarnas.1A living narrative of the history of Western thought. The book has been called ‘an education in itself’.
Cosmos and Psyche (2006), by Richard Tarnas.2Subtitle: Intimations of a New World View. This book is a must-read, when the archetypal perspective speaks to you.
Prometheus the Awakener (2008), by Richard Tarnas.3 About the deeper symbolism of the planet Uranus. From cover text: (…) ‘one of the finest astrological essays ever written (…)’.
The Archetypal Cosmos (2010), by Keiron Le Grice.4Subtitle: Rediscovering the Gods in Myth, Science and Astrology.
A book about archetypal astrology, depth psychology, integral philosophy, quantum physics and a number of new-paradigm sciences, which all present — for the postmodern mind — a plausible explanation of how it is possible to understand archetypal astrology.
Concepts like the collective unconscious, holomovement, plenum, archetypal matrix and others, all point — from different branches of science — in the direction of common ground.
We need a new myth in order to recreate a conscious and participatory contact to this common ground. People of today have the task of living a personal, individual myth. Archetypal astrology can guide us in that process because it opens the door to the Anima Mundi, the soul of the universe.
A fine, deep book discussing complicated matters with great clarity.

The Rebirth of the Hero (2013), by Keiron Le Grice.5Subtitle: Mythology as a Guide to Spiritual Transformation.
An outstanding presentation of the hero’s myth, seen through Campbell, Jung, Nietzsche, films, classical myths, and modern artists. In this book the healing power of myth is made accessible to the reader with a depth and clarity, that seem to derive from the author’s personal understanding and experience, combined with his literary insight.

Holotropic Research and Archetypal Astrology, by Stanislav Grof.6In this article you can e.g. read about the fascinating correlations between stages of our physical birth and the archetypal expression of the four planets Neptune, Saturn, Pluto and Uranus.

If you are new to astrology, you can be further informed about the symbolism of the planets, aspects, and more at www.archai.org—fundamentals.

Recommended for a basic and profound understanding of planetary aspects are:
Astrological Aspects, A Process Oriented Approach (1980),
by Leyla Rael and Dane Rudhyar.

The Lunation Cycle (1967), by Dane Rudhyar.
